Lorenzo Servi
City Wonders

There are wonders and beauty all around us, but do we really see it? City Wonders: Helsinki by Lorenzo Servi (alias SerraGlia) is a photo-series of objects, colours, shapes, and parts of the urban landscape that normally go unnoticed. Each image carries a story, revealing the unexpected in everyday life in Helsinki.

Truly blurring the boundary between what is framed and what is not, the exhibition invites the viewers to explore the city with new eyes, to visit and observe the city from an alternative, more curious point of view.

Part of the series has been recently published in the book, Art Is Everywhere: How to Really Look at Things.

Lorenzo Servi (b.1979) is an Italian-born architect, visual artist and designer domiciled in Finland. He is constantly researching and analysing issues in everyday life and built environments. Servi has been a part of several group exhibitions in Finland and abroad, among others in the Finnish Museum of Architecture.

Instawalk: City Wonders

Sep 13, Wed 18:00-19:30

The Finnish Museum of Photography organizes a guided Instagram walk: City Wonders. The walk is a refreshing workshop run by Lorenzo Servi, who is an Italian-born architect, visual artist and designer living in Finland. In addition to photographing interesting urban findings during our walk, the photos will be viewed and discussed together with the group. The event is part of Helsinki Design Week.

We will meet at the lobby of the Finnish Museum of Photography (Cable Factory, Tallberginkatu 1 G) at 6 pm, where we’ll start the walk. The event is free of charge and held in Finnish, English and Italian.

The Instawalk tour will last about an hour, after which we’ll gather at the Museum to browse through the pictures taken during the walk. The event will finish at 7.30 pm.

During the walk we’ll take photos and share them on Instagram. The participants will use their own smartphones. Instagram availability requires installation of the application in advance. Allowing location information is also a requirement.

Those who want can familiarize themselves with the Instagram application before the walk. There will be guidance available at the museum half an hour before the beginning of the walk (5.30-6 pm). Advanced knowledge about utilization is not required; the museum’s instructor will be briefing the participants. You may also ask for tips and pointers concerning the application and #hashtags during the walk.
