Freedom is a goal to reach for. Regardless of the definition, it is an ideal against which we can look at physical, psychological and social limitations. With the process, also the opportunities hidden behind the obstacles open up in front of us.
Photofuss’s group exhibition uses photography to visualize obstacles that challenge the realization of freedom, as well as alternative ways of being and overcoming contradictions towards freedom. At the same time, it is also an exhibition where we consider the possibilities of photography to describe the surrounding and inner world. An attempt has been made to break the boundaries between photographers in the exhibition by means of hanging.
In the exhibition, you can also listen to the soundscape connecting the works. It is a multilingual mosaic that explores freedom through the dreams and fears of the members of the Photofuss group. The sound piece tunes the viewer to the frequency, in the light and shadow of which the photographs in the exhibition were created. Linus Grönroos and Karun Verma have been responsible for the sound design of the piece.
The Artists in the exhibition: Oona Aleksia, Olga Ekimovskaya, Linus Grönroos, Tuukka Jaromaa, Jonna Juvonen, Miia Korhonen, Niko Kylmälä, Kristian Presnal, Hans Kashadila, Piatta Salo, Jenni Sundqvist, Dasha Taushan, Karun Verma.
