Filled with kitsch, golden frames, fur, and glitter, Veera Konsti's (b. 1990) exhibition It's Complicated carnivalizes and parodies the traditions of both painting and nature photography. Photographing stuffed animals and animal skeletons, Konsti constructs dramatic arrangements. The dark yet humorous exhibition aims to question the conventions of presenting nature.
The exhibition is closed on 6-8 October, 15-16 October and 23 October when the space is in use for courses.
Veera Konsti was awarded the Young Hero Grant by the Jouko Lehtola Foundation in 2022. This exhibition at The Finnish Museum of Photography is part of the award. The award was granted on the basis of Veera Konsti bravely challenging traditional photography and conventional thinking.
