The Finnish Museum of Photography was delighted and honoured to present Finnish photography and our common cultural heritage as part of the Independence Day Reception in 2024. A photography exhibition was curated from the museum's collections in the Gothic Hall of the Presidential Palace. The theme of the exhibition was Together, in keeping with the theme of the celebrations. The exhibition was curated by Anna-Kaisa Rastenberger, Museum Director, and Anni Wallenius, Chief Collections Curator.
The exhibition features ten works by nine different artists. The artists were selected with an emphasis on living artists. The exhibition depicts affection, tenderness and emotional bonds and tells the story of being connected to another person, animal or environment. Diversity is an important focus of the exhibition. "It is important for us to highlight the fact that Finnishness is consists of a truly diverse group of people with backgrounds from everywhere other than just the geographical area of Finland. They are Finns and are making Finland through their work and presence, and more so in the future," says Anna-Kaisa Rastenberger.
The exhibition has been brought to the Finnish Museum of Photography K1 after the Independence Day Reception and will be on public display until the end of 2024.
